Development Engineer
Navisun LLC is seeking a Development Engineer to support its PV and energy storage development and interconnection activities. This role will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are designed, derisked, and interconnected to the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. The Development Engineer will be responsible for generating and optimizing system designs, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices, and coordinating with utilities through the interconnection process. This position will be supported by the Engineering Director and Senior Engineers.
- 1-3 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS)
projects. - Experience in derisking solar site plans based on constraints such as topography, flood zones, wetlands, and
zoning ordinances. - Familiarity with power system design, interconnection processes, and grid integration for solar and energy storage
projects. - Proficiency in electrical modeling and analysis tools such as PVSyst, PV Case and AutoCAD or similar.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with project developers, finance teams, and EPC partners.
- Willingness to acquire new technical skills and subject matter knowledge
- Highly detail oriented.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in technical documentation, reporting, and stakeholder
engagement. - Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or power Engineering or related discipline.
- Review and design optimized Solar PV system including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and
utility interconnections. - Provide technical due diligence on project interconnection requirements, including interconnection applications,
utility studies, and grid compliance standards. - Manage project documentation and submittals through Procore.
- Own departmental process documentation.
- Coordinate the interconnection process including the Interconnection Application, payment timelines, and meeting
utility specifications. - Perform engineering reviews of single-line diagrams, layout drawings, equipment specifications, and control system
designs for solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). - Collaborate with internal development, finance, and operations teams to ensure project assumptions align with
technical feasibility. - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including interconnection standards, safety
requirements, and permitting conditions. - Assist in continuously refining and expanding Navisun’s PV Design Standards program coordinating with internal
and external stakeholders to ensure project quality & reliability. - Represent Navisun in technical discussions with utilities, permitting agencies, and key project stakeholders.
